Louisiana Primary Care Association Names Rep. Steven P. Jackson 2026 Legislative Champion of the Year

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SHREVEPORT, La. - State Representative Steven P. Jackson has been selected by the Louisiana Primary Care Association (LPCA) as its 2026 Legislative Champion of the Year Award, recognizing a legislator that has gone above and beyond in support of Community Health Centers and the patients they serve. The award will be presented during LPCA's 43rd Annual Continuing Education Conference and Community Health Care Excellence Awards Luncheon on October 21, 2026 in New Orleans.
“Representative Jackson has consistently demonstrated an understanding of the important role Community Health Centers play in Louisiana’s healthcare system and the challenges facing both patients and providers,” said Gerrelda Davis, Executive Director of the Louisiana Primary Care Association. “He understands that policy, data, access and affordability are all critical elements of a stronger healthcare system, and that we must also support providers as they improve outcomes, coordinate care and adapt to an increasingly value-based healthcare environment.”
“Community Health Centers need strong partners in the Legislature who understand both the challenges our patients face and the importance of maintaining access to quality care,” said Dr. Stacie Bland, President of the LPCA Board of Directors and CEO of Baton Rouge Primary Care Collaborative. “We are pleased to recognize Representative Jackson for his continued support and leadership.”
“Community Health Centers are often the front door to healthcare for families across Louisiana, particularly in communities where access can be limited,” Jackson said. “I am grateful for this recognition, but even more appreciative of the providers, staff and advocates doing this work every day. Supporting access to quality healthcare is a personal passion of mine. I accept this recognition in honor of my late mother Patricia Blaze Jackson and my best friend the late Jessica Bradford.”
