MEET STEVEN

New Leadership Delivering Results for Our Community

Steven Jackson is a State Representative for Louisiana House District 2, representing communities across Caddo and Bossier Parishes. A native of Shreveport, he is one of seven siblings and a proud graduate of Woodlawn High School, Grambling State University, and LSU Shreveport, where he earned his master’s degree.

Jackson’s leadership journey began early. While at Grambling, he served as Student Government Association President and was selected by his peers to serve on the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors, helping guide policy for public higher education across the state.

Before entering the Legislature, Jackson served on the Caddo Parish Commission, where he built a record of delivering results. His work included securing funding for affordable housing initiatives, youth employment programs, senior services, and major community investments that strengthened neighborhoods across the parish.

Elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives in 2023, Jackson has quickly established himself as a results-driven policymaker focused on economic development, healthcare access, and community stability. He serves on key committees including Health and Welfare, Municipal, Parochial and Cultural Affairs, and Ways and Means.

In the Legislature, Jackson has demonstrated an ability to deliver both policy and investment outcomes. He played a key role in advancing the final passage of House Bills 5 and 6, supporting statewide priorities tied to economic growth and public policy reform. He also helped secure a $2.3 million state investment to relaunch the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Transitional Work Program, expanding workforce pathways and reentry opportunities in Northwest Louisiana.

Jackson’s impact extends beyond legislation. He was selected as a recipient of the 2025 CSG 20 Under 40 Leadership Award, a national recognition honoring emerging leaders who are making a measurable impact in state government and public service.

His long-standing commitment to housing and community development includes helping secure more than $40 million in funding for housing improvements across North Louisiana, reflecting a continued focus on stabilizing families and strengthening local communities.

With both public and private sector experience in healthcare and housing, Jackson brings a practical, solutions-oriented approach to governance. He leads with a clear principle: effective public service should produce tangible results that improve people’s lives.
